Christopher Sykes

Christopher founded Charlesworth Sykes in 2005 and serves as the company’s Chairman. He has over thirty five years’ experience working in Asia. He started his career in the Colonial Service in Hong Kong and then served as a diplomat in HM Foreign & Commonwealth Office.

In the private sector, Christopher worked in financial services before moving into executive recruitment with two of the leading retained search companies. A natural resource consulting arm of Charlesworth Sykes was added in 2007 specialising in China’s investment drive overseas. In 2016, in response to the requirements of certain multinational clients, a strategy and risk mitigation offering was started. This has become the principal driver of the business today.

Christopher has lectured on Anglo-Sino relations at Cambridge, Beijing and Zhongshan Universities.  He holds an MA in Chinese from Cambridge University and is fluent in Cantonese and Mandarin.
